Two Months to Go - Preparations

Ok, so there are two months to go before the trip and preparations are underway. I have the vehicle - "The Beast" - my beautiful red Pajero. The Beast has been fitted out with a cb radio and a new cd/mp3 player and speakers. Yesterday the Beast got new tyres (Yokohama Superdiggers) and the chip in the windscreen repaired. I still have some more work to do on Beast, he needs new rear shocks and a replacement tail light lens (ouch - that one costs $92 for a piece of plastic). I also need to replace the battery as it is getting a bit dodgy - then we will be right to go.

Dad has been working on the trailer - he has made a frame for it and booked it in to have a "you-beaut" cover made for the trailer - this will make life easier as it will have zips in the side and back and we will be able to get gear in and out without too much trouble.

Lachlan and I have new swags (Oztrail Mitchell swags) and we have tried them out - they are terrific though I really had to work on the claustrophobia thing as it was pouring with rain and I had to have mine zipped right up! I survived.... and stayed dry.

We have maps and a proposed timetable. I am filling a folder with articles about interesting places we might like to see.

With 2 months to go.... the trip is already becoming a common dinner table discussion point and gobbler of spare time.
